Brand Yourself

When it comes to getting noticed whether seeking a job or self success branding yourself is one of today's most important elements for young professionals and experienced veterans alike. We both know you can't afford to sit around and expect job engines like Monster.com or Careerbuilder.com to bring the attention to you. With a weak economy and saturated market of job seekers it's up to YOU to utilize every resource to achieve your goals.

Here are 5 tips for branding yourself:

Tip #5: Make your 2D personal documents interactive. Use data matrix or snap tags on your business card and CV.

Tip #4: Create an ePortfolio and drive leads to it. Keep it clean and professional while creating a call to action. See example at AnthonyNied.com.

Tip #3: It's all about connections. We've all heard it before. What's even better than being handed one fron an uncle or co-worker is getting out in the community and creating your own. Find the right people to meet by researching companies' online directories, inquiring via social networks, or picking up the phone. Then do whatever you have to in order to meet that person. Just hope you know what to say when you do.

Tip #2: Advertise! Don't be afraid to test out Google Adwords or buy a classified to promote yourself and your ePortfolio. This is a given for you entrepreneurs out there looking for self success. One example: Throw an event and no matter what the size post it on every free event listing in the area to draw attention to YOU, the organizer. People will start to recognize your name and any additional paid or free advertising you can do for yourself will help you exponentially in the long run.

Tip #1: Be persistant! Do not give up!  Put all the tools from above together and attack the world from all angles.

I applied to well over 100 jobs and was turned down again and again after interviews before I took a job through a connection I made. Then quit after 18 months realizing my life was meant to be more enjoyable. Good luck!
